The Blue Peter Appeal 1999 was the Blue Peter Appeal for the year 1999. The appeal, also known as the "New life" appeal, involved several Blue Peter Presenters including Katy Hill, Simon Thomas, Konnie Huq and Matt Baker.
The Appeal[]
The appeal was for extra equipment for Neonatal units in hospitals across the United Kingdom. They had previously worked with the charity BLISS in 1989 and had received letters from viewers telling them that they'd been placed in a Blue Peter incubator when they'd been born and wanted to help the next generation of children.
They though this was a great idea with the initial target being £50,000 - a huge amount of money which would help 40 Hospitals. They launched the Appeal with a huge Bring and buy sale in the Blue Peter studio and soon thousand of viewers followed suit.
